BELLEVUE DAYS EMBRACE APATHY IN THE ‘RIPPED JEANS’ VIDEO - http://diymag.com/2016/01/21/bellevue-days-ripped-jeans-video-premiere

When you think of the fertile creative soils of the UK, Croydon probably doesn’t immediately spring to mind. The South London town is known more for its brickwork than its bands, but it’s that feeling of big-city disillusionment that makes what Bellevue Days do so special.

Premiering below on DIY after our old mate Zane Lowe picked it as his World Record on Beats1 last night, their new single ‘Ripped Jeans’ is a gut-punching cut of intelligent and anthemic rock, cut through with an everyday paranoia that’s destined for huge, uniting festival slots. “Oh my God, I drink to forget, I love leaving cigarette stains on my twin sized bed,” sings frontman Alan Smith amidst all the arms-aloft euphoria, but it’s his closing sentiments that ring the truest - “still, I’m singing.”

Stream ‘Ripped Jeans’ below, first on DIY. It’s taken from the band’s second EP, due out early next year. If you fancy a sneak peek, they play The Unicorn in Camden on December 3rd.

"A box-fresh brand new bright young band, it's really happening for them" - Jo Good, Radio X

"They're going to be massive this year" - BBC Intro, 2016

In a desperate attempt to avoid ‘real work’ – and in one individual’s case, to avoid capture – the four members of Bare Traps fled to the bright lights of the big city. In our great nation’s capital, meeting at the dankest end of the Bakerloo Line, they vowed to transcend their monotonous lives by selling their souls in exchange for sonic sorcery. These sorcerers combined sun-drenched mathy guitar hooks, African rhythms, stinky grooves, a touch of the tropics, and them beats-to-make-you-move-ya-feet, resulting in an intoxicating alt-pop cocktail. At the end of 2016 they made the joint decision to become rock stars and have been living that delusion ever since.

Soon after Bare Traps formed, the almighty Beeb invited the young men to get their ditties out for the public to admire. With multiple BBC Introducing performances, and a live radio session under their collective belt, Bare Traps enjoy regular championing by numerous regional DJs, as well as Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 Music. 2017 saw the lads ascend (in their own minds) to the heights of festival rock gods, with performances at The Great Escape and Fieldview. True to form, once they’d played an electric set at Sundown Festival, their rock star delusion saw them blag their way side of stage during Craig David’s performance, and after removing their trousers and underwear, were promptly escorted away by security. Whether you hear their name on the radio or on the news, they'll be a household name soon enough.

“The band that everyone is talking about” - Ollie Winniberg, BBC Intro, 2017

"A box-fresh brand new bright young band, it's really happening for them" - Jo Good, Radio X

"Bare Traps make crisp, assured pop music, something you can sing along to, something you can dream about." - Robin Murray, CLASH Magazine (Track of the Day)

"They're going to be massive this year" - Jolon Kemp Walker, BBC Intro, 2016

“Wildly infectious” - Tarynn Law, The 405
